tHE mARTIAN sPECTRE
The Martian Spectre Road Train.
The Road Train was a concept developed in the 20th century in the remote regions of Mexico, Australia, and Western Canada. The concept later gave way to more efficient and faster ways of delivering goods and supplies. However in the late 21st century the corporate colonies of Mars needed a way to traverse the vast wastes of the martian landscape that could withstand the punishing and often deadly sandstorms that plagued the planet.
Some rail systems were created and this did help with the flow of goods and supplies but they took a fair amount of time to build, plus they could only move where the tracks would take them. That is when Ingsoc Corp. decided to revisit the idea of Road Trains. One of the first models was the Manticore and it proved very successful and provided valuable information for the development of newer models such as the Spectre.
The Spectre is the most powerful to date Road Train that Ingsoc Corp has produced. Capable of cranking out 25,000 horsepower, the Spectre can haul tremendous amounts at high speeds. The suspension and armor allow the Spectre to traverse all types of conditions with minimal damage. A crew of 6 is usually required to operate this complex piece of equipment. The Spectre does not usually travel alone and will have one to three, smaller, highly armed ATV's that accompany it in its travels.
The Spectre also carries an impressive array of arms that include four 20 mm guns, Rockets, Dragonfire missiles and grenade launchers. Along with these, the Spectre also features the capability to link to another Spectre tractor thus increasing its horsepower and hauling loads. There is no limit to how many tractors can be used in tandom with the current record at 5 tractors in tandom that produced 125,000 horsepower.
